Nurtur Receives Full URAC Accreditation
ST. LOUIS, April 17, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Centene Corporation (NYSE: CNC) announced today that Nurtur, its health and wellness subsidiary, received full Disease Management Accreditation from URAC, a Washington, DC-based healthcare accrediting organization that establishes quality standards for the healthcare industry.
URAC is an independent, nonprofit healthcare-accrediting organization dedicated to promoting healthcare quality through accreditation, education and measurement. The disease management accreditation recognizes Nurtur's programs for asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, heart disease, heart failure, diabetes and back pain.
"We are proud to once again receive URAC accreditation, which validates our long-standing dedication to provide quality healthcare solutions to those we serve," said Dr. Jeremy Corbett, Chief Health Officer of Nurtur. "We believe that by providing evidence-based information, teaching skills and social support, we can improve the health of any organization, one person at a time."
The URAC accreditation process demonstrates a commitment to quality services and serves as a framework to improve business processes through benchmarking organizations against nationally recognized standards. URAC's accreditation process involves a rigorous four-phase review: building the application, desktop review, on-site review, and committee review. Disease Management Accreditation equips disease management organizations with the tools needed to promote quality and better assess and respond to the needs of health plan members. The URAC Standards promote evidence-based practice, collaborative relationships with providers, and consumer education, to name a few.
"Nurtur should be commended for meeting strict quality standards," said URAC President and CEO Kylanne Green. "It is critically important for healthcare organizations to make a commitment to quality and accountability. URAC accreditation is a demonstration of that commitment."
