CENTENE NAMED ONE OF THE 2023 BEST WORKPLACES FOR WOMEN™ BY FORTUNE

ST. LOUIS, Oct. 24, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- Centene Corporation (NYSE: CNC), a leading healthcare enterprise committed to helping people live healthier lives, announced today that it has been named to the 2023 Fortune Best Workplaces for Women list, ranking 67 out of 100 companies in the Large Company category. This marks the first time Centene has appeared on the annual list, which recognizes companies that demonstrate high employee-ranked scores in trust, fairness and pride among women employees.

"Centene's inclusion in this list is a testament to the company's efforts to create an inclusive workplace in which women are empowered to grow, lead and thrive," said Centene Chief Executive Officer Sarah London. "This recognition would not be possible without the incredible work of women across this company – who compose 77% of our workforce – and who play an integral role in advancing our efforts to transform the health of the communities we serve, one member at a time."

The list was determined in collaboration with people analytics firm Great Place to Work®. Rankings were based on the survey feedback from more than 600,000 women employed by eligible companies that have at least 50 women, a minimum of 20% of non-executive female managers and which have at least one female executive. Companies were ranked based on scores in trust, respect, credibility, fairness, pride and camaraderie.

Centene has taken great strides to champion women, including the creation of an Employee Inclusion Group for women, I.N.S.P.I.R.E, which is specifically designed to provide professional and leadership opportunities, contribute to community engagement initiatives and support business innovation and the advancement of best practices.

The company, under London's leadership, has also updated its paid time off benefits policy for parental leave. Beginning Jan. 1, 2023, mothers who give birth receive eight full weeks of paid leave, fully covered at 100% of pay. Centene also increased caregiver leave to six weeks of fully paid time off. This includes parental leave for both fathers and mothers, including adoptive parents, as well as any employee who needs to take time away to care for an immediate family member. For those giving birth, these benefits may be combined for up to 14 weeks of fully paid time off. These changes reflect the company's fundamental commitment to supporting employees who are central to supporting the needs of our members.

Today's recognition builds on a growing list of corporate recognitions for Centene. Most recently, London was named to FORTUNE's "100 Most Powerful Women" list for the second year in a row. Centene was also named as one of Fortune's "Best Workplace in Healthcare;" one of Newsweek's "America's Greatest Workplaces 2023;" a Top 50 Company for Diversity  by DiversityInc; a 2023 Most Arrived Company by Fortune for the fifth consecutive year; one of America's Best Large Employers and Best Employers for Diversity by Forbes; and was listed on the 2023 Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index for the fourth year.
