Former U.S. Surgeon General Dr. David Satcher To Speak At Centene's Corporate Headquarters

ST. LOUIS, (February 19, 2014) - Centene Corporation (NYSE: CNC) today announced that former U.S. Surgeon General David Satcher, MD, PhD, will speak at Centene's corporate headquarters on Thursday, February 20 th, from 10-11:30 a.m. Dr. Satcher will discuss "The Role of History, Culture, and Leadership in Transforming Community Health."

Dr. Satcher was sworn in as the 16th Surgeon General of the United States in 1998. He also served as Assistant Secretary for Health in the Department of Health and Human Services from February 1998 to January 2001, making him only the second person in history to have held both positions simultaneously. During his time in public service, Dr. Satcher helped to broaden the definition of health, stressing the need to include discussions around mental health, oral health and even sexual health.

Dr. Satcher is currently director of The Satcher Health Leadership Institute, which was established in 2006 at the Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. In this role, he works to develop a diverse group of public health leaders, foster and support leadership strategies and influence policies toward the reduction and ultimately the elimination of disparities in health.
